Scenes in Jazz
Scenes In Jazz is an album of original recordings featuring legendary female jazz singers and contemporary female soul artists performing previously unreleased new and classic songs from the silver screen.
By featuring contemporary artists alongside renowned classic performers, and by spotlighting the music’s undeniable contribution to the world of film, Grammy-nominated composer and multi-Platinum producer Frank Fitzpatrick introduces a whole new audience to this great American art form while spotlighting the power of the female voice and adding a collection of fresh and timeless recordings to the repertoire.
The production of Scenes in Jazz is almost complete, with a couple of surprise guest performers coming on board to record. 10 years in the making, the album is scheduled for release in the late summer of 2020. All the contributors have set the bar at the highest level, with the aim to compete for, and win, the 2021 Grammy for Best Jazz Vocal Album. Doing so will give the long-awaited and well-deserved limelight to this incredible collection of female voices.
The Scenes In Jazz release will launch with a special event marking Jazz’s historic contribution to the Silver Screen, including the first public release of Fitzpatrick’s 2001 award-winning short film: Jungle Jazz and celebrating the 35th Anniversary of the Oscar Award-winning film and soundtrack ‘Round Midnight.
Proceeds from the album will go to help support EarthTones.org and the WHY Music initiative, promoting music for health and education.
Jazz washes away the dust of everyday life.
